EU4Energy Component 1 – Technical assistance to the energy sector in BiH

Project description

The purpose of the project is to provide the necessary technical assistance to support the country’s systematic energy sector reform by assisting in the fulfilment of the obligation of Bosnia and Herzegovina under the Energy Community Treaty, Paris Agreement and other international obligations and progress in the harmonisation with the EU acquis in the domain of energy.

The project has four components:

  • Energy sector reform and alignment with EU energy acquis
  • EU energy legislation implementation and monitoring
  • Institutional capacity building for energy sector transition
  • Cross-cutting tasks – knowledge transfer and increasing public awareness of energy related matters

The areas covered by the project include electricity, gas, internal energy market, security of supply, environment, competition, renewable energy sources, energy efficiency, oil, statistics and infrastructure

Type of services provided

Within the scope of the project, Enova supports the continuation of reforms in the sector through:

1. Increase public awareness on energy-related matters, to support dialogue between the general public and energy sector stakeholders, and to inform about the benefits of energy reforms.

2. Support to the implementation of other tasks related to the project, including:

  • energy and climate policies development
  • harmonization of relevant legislation with the EU energy acquis
  • strengthening capacities at all levels of government in Bosnia and Herzegovina for energy acquis transposition and implementation
  • meeting energy market requirements, energy policy planning and implementation
