Development of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Fourth National Communication and Third Biennial Update Report Under the UNFCCC
Project description
The long term objective of the project was to assist Bosnia and Herzegovina in deepening the mainstreaming and integration of climate change into the country and sectoral development goals and to enable the entity and state level governments to respond to international environmental obligations by strengthening and giving continuity to the institutional and technical capacity development that has been initiated and sustained by the National Communications and Biennial Update Reports processes to date.
The immediate objective of the project is to assist Bosnia and Herzegovina in the preparation and submission of its Fourth National Communication to the Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC and its Third Biennial Update Report; for the fulfillment of its obligations to the Convention under Decision 17 /CP. 8, Decision 2 / CP.17 and other related guidance.
Types of services provided
- Development of Methodology and Inception Report
- Vulnerability assessment, in-depth assessment and identification of priority adaptation and mitigation measures, improving and upgrading of climate atlas.
- Update of the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) and development of a Roadmap and Action Plan for Implementation of NDC for the period 2020-2030. The emission reduction targets by 2030 (and by 2050) were determined for to the following sectors: electric power, agriculture, forestry, district heating, transport, industry, waste and buildings.
- 2 pilot studies on climate change impacts (on health and sensitive ecosystems)
- Guidance and recommendation for NAMAs and MRV
- Study on different gender roles in adaptation and mitigation interventions
- Development of the new 2020-2030 Climate Change Adaptation and Low Emission Development Strategy
- Technology Needs Assessment for agriculture and water management sector
- Development of the Fourth National Communication of BiH under the UNFCCC
- Public awareness campaign and training on climate change negotiations for young professionals
- Development of the Third Biennial Update Report of GHG Emissions of BiH under the UNFCCC
